Maira brings to CPPG over five years of professional grant writing and program management experience, along with more than 11 years of healthcare expertise. She has served in various roles focused on delivering public services. Maira has secured over $68 million in grant funding in addition to managing and administering millions of dollars in grant funding from foundation, state, and federal awards.
Maira holds a master’s degree in public administration from California State University, San Bernardino, with a concentration in leadership. She has earned certificates in nonprofit leadership and grant writing and administration.
Prior to joining CPPG, Maira served as the Grants Coordinator for the City of Redlands, where she led the administration and management of over $41.5 million in state and federal grant funds. This included spearheading the administration and management of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and coordinating the public-private grant application to the Department of Housing and Community Development’s Homekey 2 program, which resulted in a $30 million grant to convert a motel into 98 permanent supportive housing units for unsheltered individuals.
Before her tenure at the City of Redlands, Maira assisted the Assistant Regional Organizer for the Inland Empire Regional Planning Unit within Riverside County’s Housing, Homelessness Prevention, and Workforce Solutions (HHPWS). She was an integral part of the interagency collaboration that secured millions of dollars in state grant funding toward employment reentry for justice-involved and unemployed individuals and employment skill development for underserved communities throughout the Inland Empire.
Maira’s passion for grant writing is rooted in empowering change-makers to deliver transformative community programs by securing the funding needed for impactful initiatives.
Outside of work, Maira enjoys exploring nature as a way to recharge and reflect and finds joy in discovering culturally diverse foods to cook from scratch.
