John R. Robertson is a veteran California Peace Officer with over 45 years of distinguished service across municipal, county, and federal law enforcement.

He is best known for his decade-long tenure as the elected Sheriff of Napa County, where he established a statewide reputation as a pragmatic, solutions-based leader—earning the nickname “The Fixer” for his success in resolving complex law enforcement and public safety challenges.

Throughout his career, John Robertson developed deep expertise in all aspects of public safety services and business operations. He is certified at all levels of California POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training), including Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Management, and Executive levels, and is a graduate of the prestigious Senior Management Institute for Police in Boston, Massachusetts.

Robertson played a key role in addressing long-standing issues facing public safety agencies, particularly in developing innovative contracting and consolidation models that maintained local control while improving efficiency and financial sustainability. His leadership brought together city and county departments, fostered inter-agency trust, and delivered fiscally responsible solutions that benefited communities across California.

He has worked closely with Sheriffs, Police Chiefs, municipal executives, county administrators, and members of the State Legislature to navigate the operational and fiscal complexities of law enforcement. Since retiring from Napa County, John Robertson continues to advise city and county governments and jurisdictions on contract policing, staffing optimization, liability reduction, and public safety restructuring.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, San Diego, and remains a respected voice in California’s law enforcement and public policy community.
